Fiddleheads rehearses on Monday evenings from September to May, at the Mill Rd. Community Space (8 ch. Mill) in Chelsea, QC. All fiddlers range, who range in age from 5 to 18, will play together during this time. There are two weekend camps throughout the year, in September and January that all fiddlers must attend. During these camps, the fiddlers will be divided into appropriate levels to learn their specific music parts for the songs they will perform as a group.
All fiddlers are required to have at least 2 years of experience playing the violin/fiddle to join Fiddleheads, and are expected to take weekly private lessons in addition to Fiddleheads group classes.
In all our classes, we teach a variety of tunes and styles. All tunes are taught by ear, with recordings and sheet music being provided afterwards for all tunes. Each year, we bring in guest artists to give special workshops and concerts for Fiddleheads students. Past guest artists include Shane Cook, Pierre Schryer, Julie & Kerry Fitzgerald, Gordon Stobbe, and Natalie MacMaster.
